Technology at Work: What Works, What Doesn't & Recent Developments in the Life Insurance Industry

Please join us for our Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner and Educational Program 5:15pm to 8:15pm on Wednesday, June 7. We are honored to present our 23rd Annual FPA Fairfield County Financial Planning Scholarship Foundation's 2017 Scholarship Award to a qualified local high school student. We will also have a 50/50 Raffle to support our Scholarship Foundation, so please come prepared to participate at $5 per ticket!

Technology at Work: What Works, What Doesn't
(An Interactive Practice Management Session [non-CE])
This will be a facilitated discussion on effectively using your iPad or iPhone to market your practice or work with your clients. Come prepared to share how you use technology and your favorite applications. This is an opportunity to learn how your peers integrate these tools into their practices and consider how this is changing our profession.

Recent Developments in the Life Insurance Industry

This discussion will focus on four topics in the life insurance industry. First, there will be an examination of recent life insurance planning concepts/ideas that have become common place in many advisors' practices, including the use of credit shelter trusts in a clients' overall financial plan as well as other assets that have been ear marked for the next generation. This will be followed by an update on the CT and NY state estate tax, including the new CT probate process. Next, there will be an analysis of insurance carriers accelerated underwriting programs which are shaping the future of how companies will underwrite cases. We will conclude with an overview of a handful of carriers' underwriting niches and advantages. Click here for Rex's bio.

Learning objectives: (1) The purpose of credit shelter trusts and how they can be leveraged to pass more onto beneficiaries, (2) Familiarize advisors with the new CT probate rules and how they are related to the CT estate tax system and gain an understanding of the NY estate tax system and its nuances, (3) Learn about carriers' accelerated underwriting programs, and (4) Learn about carriers' unique underwriting niches and advantages. Non-Members: $55 Advance ($65 at door)
Students: $30 Advance ($35 at door)

*For FPA CT-Fairfield County local dues assessment (season pass) members there is no additional fee to attend the meeting;
however, advance registration is required.
