A Look at Potential Post-Election Tax, Policy & Investment Strategy Scenarios

A Look at Potential Post-Election Tax, Policy & Investment Strategy Scenarios
presented by
Jeffrey R. Brooks, J.D., Wealth Strategist
Capital Group / American Funds
(This presentation has been accepted by CFP Board for 1 CFP CEU)

With the enormous stimulus packages rolled out last Spring and the 2020 Presidential/ Congressional election just weeks away, projections regarding changes to income and estate taxes are high on our clients’ minds. What changes are proposed if the White House continues to be occupied by a Republican? And what if a Democrat moves in? What about the House of Representatives and Senate?

Join Jeff Brooks, Wealth Strategist with Capital Group, Home of the American Funds, for a discussion of various proposed tax scenarios depending on election results as well as actions clients can take to better position themselves for the foreseeable (and unforeseeable) future. Also discussed will be gifts and loans (intra family) and The CARES Act (charitable giving).

Learning Objective(s): At the end of this session, attendees will:
(1) Understand the potential impact of the election results on taxes, policies and investment strategies and be prepared to advise clients accordingly during the tax and investment planning process.
(2) Have a good understanding of gifts and loans and The Cares Act, including how and when they might be considered when structuring a client’s overall tax and investment plan.
Level of Complexity: Intermediate
