Regulatory and professional standards-setting developments are shaping the future of advice. This session will examine the fiduciary and best interest regulatory regimes of the SEC and DOL, as well as CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. The session will also highlight (1) how the fiduciary duty of care has emerged as a focal point in these regimes and (2) why fiduciary advisors must develop a strong working knowledge of ESG investing.

Managing Taxable Investments: Techniques for Mitigating Tax Costs in Investing

In many cases, investors pay more in taxes on their investments than they do in fees. This course explains how tax rates, proposed legislation, investment vehicle type, distributions and other factors affect the tax cost associated with investing. Analysis and discussion of research and historical data helps participants understand the magnitude of tax costs in various market environments, asset classes and investment types. Participants will learn how taxation varies among investment vehicles and the pros and cons of common investment types. Finally, the presenter will explain various techniques that can be used to maximize after-tax returns for investors and walk through specific examples of some of the most powerful tax management techniques.

Wine tastings are a great way to connect with your colleagues and work teams. This event is customized to promote participation and education. You will learn a thing or two about wine, the winemaking process, how to taste, and what foods pair best. Certified wine experts will guide you throughout this private tasting and answer any questions you may have about food and wine. You'll sample 3 different wines. Testers will be mailed to you in advance. Limited availability @ $15 (add on fee to your registration) for the testers. Deadline to register is April 5th. It is free to BYOB and all attendees will be given the link in the afternoon the day of the conference.
